Ford adopts China's CATL battery technology

Ford will use lithium iron phosphate batteries produced using technology licensed from China's Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL). The batteries will be manufactured at Ford's new $3 billion Blue Oval Battery Park plant in Michigan, with production expected to begin in 2026.
