Although Tesla claimed in September 2024 that it had produced 100 million 4680 batteries, the actual production did not meet expectations because each Cybertruck requires 1,366 4680 batteries. Tesla's large cylindrical battery supply was insufficient, resulting in less than 50,000 Cybertrucks delivered out of a total of 2 million orders. However, the BMW Group is optimistic about this and will launch a new generation of models by the end of 2025, all of which will use large cylindrical batteries.
