Volkswagen Group stops production of Polo small car at Pamplona plant in Spain and switches to pure electric small car

Volkswagen Group recently announced that its plant in Pamplona, Spain, has stopped production of the Polo small car and is focusing on producing affordable pure electric small cars. Starting in 2026, the plant will begin production of two new pure electric small SUV models, one for the Volkswagen brand and the other for the Skoda brand. Both new cars will be manufactured on the adjusted MEB platform. The Skoda brand's electric SUV is named Epiq and is expected to start at 25,000 euros; the Volkswagen brand's electric SUV is called ID.2all SUV. In addition, Volkswagen Group also plans to launch an electric small hatchback based on the adjusted MEB platform, which will be produced at the Martorell plant in Spain. Volkswagen Group said that the Pamplona plant will continue to produce gasoline versions of the T-Cross and Taigo.
