Hitachi Astemo was formed by the merger of Hitachi Automotive Systems, Ltd., Keihin Co., Ltd., Showa Co., Ltd., and Nissin Kogyo Co., Ltd., and adopts a joint-stock operation model, of which Hitachi, Ltd. holds 66.6% of the shares and Honda Motor Co., Ltd. holds 33.4% of the shares. The new company completed the business merger on January 1, 2021, officially opening a new chapter in global operations. Hitachi Astemo's business outlets are located in 27 countries and regions around the world, including Asia, North America, South America, and Europe, including Japan, China, and India, with approximately 90,000 employees. Hitachi Astemo has a total of 22 production and R&D bases in China. During the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, Hitachi Astemo exhibited a full range of leading products in core business areas such as electric powertrain systems, advanced chassis systems, autonomous driving/advanced driver assistance systems, and motorcycles, including on-board motor controllers for new energy vehicles and binocular cameras for autonomous driving. Hitachi Astemo's automotive motor controller uses highly efficient and mature IGBT technology to achieve the same performance as SIC at 800V high voltage, even though the cost of SIC is still high.
