According to people familiar with the matter, Honda intends to restart negotiations to acquire Nissan Motor, aiming to create the world's fourth largest automaker. Previously, Nissan Motor President Makoto Uchida had actively promoted the deal with Honda, but the relationship between the two parties gradually deteriorated due to Honda's dissatisfaction with Uchida's speed in promoting Nissan's restructuring and financial problems. At present, Nissan's board of directors has begun informal discussions on Uchida's departure schedule, providing Honda with the possibility of restarting acquisition negotiations.
