According to foreign media reports, French automaker Renault and its Chinese partner Geely plan to announce an agreement later this month to expand their cooperation to Brazil. Geely will start using Renault's retail network in Brazil as early as this year to sell Geely-branded cars exported from China. In addition, Geely will acquire a minority stake in Renault's Brazilian branch and use Renault's plant in Curitiba, Brazil to assemble cars locally. Geely and Renault are currently working on this preliminary agreement, and one of the sources said that Geely may establish its multi-powertrain platform at the Renault plant to produce gasoline vehicles, hybrid vehicles and pure electric vehicles.
