Xpeng Motors expands urban coverage of XNGP function, reducing reliance on LiDAR

According to reports, in the past few months, Xiaopeng Motors has been working to expand the urban coverage of its XNGP assisted driving function. In this process, lidar was only used as an auxiliary means to handle static targets. Now, Xiaopeng Motors plans to completely abandon the use of lidar in new models, which may help reduce costs and align its technology stack with Tesla. Xiaopeng Motors will launch a new model with the internal code name F57 in the fourth quarter of this year. This model will no longer use lidar technology, but a pure visual intelligent driving system similar to Tesla.
