Volkswagen to increase battery purchases through partnerships

Volkswagen (VW) has maintained a high level of control over modules and packs in its battery sourcing strategy. In the coming years, VW expects to increase battery sourcing through partnerships to meet more than 35% of demand. VW is already investing in in-house development and production of batteries, but with a focus on nickel-based chemistries.
