Axiom Space, an American company, is exploring the idea of producing semiconductor materials in space. They believe that the environmental conditions in low Earth orbit (LEO) are conducive to the production of ultra-pure materials. Dr. Koichi Wakata, Chief Technology Officer of Axiom Space Asia Pacific, emphasized that microgravity and vacuum environments have great potential for improving the quality of semiconductor manufacturing. They plan to cooperate with Taiwanese companies to conduct preliminary experiments on the International Space Station and hope to move production to Axiom's commercial space station after 2030.
