Recently, a threat actor claimed on a hacker forum that he had leaked 44,000 Ford customer records, including full names, locations, purchase details, dealer information, etc. Although these data are not extremely sensitive, they contain personally identifiable information and may trigger phishing and social engineering attacks. At present, the threat actor has not tried to sell the data set, but has provided it to registered members of the hacker forum at a low price. Ford has launched an investigation into the incident and confirmed that its systems or customer data have not been compromised. The incident involves the business addresses of third-party suppliers and a small number of publicly disclosed dealers.
