In an interview, Jochen Hanebeck, CEO of German semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies, indicated that in order to maintain close ties with Chinese buyers, the company is localizing the production of commodity-level products in China. Hanebeck pointed out that "Chinese customers require local production of parts that are difficult to replace." Therefore, the company has transferred some products to foundries in China and has its own back-end facilities locally to ensure supply security to Chinese customers. Hanebeck did not disclose specific goals for production in China, but he said that it actually depends on the product category and market development.
