Nissan and Honda sign memorandum of understanding to merge and create new joint holding company

Nissan and Honda have signed a memorandum of understanding to begin discussions on matters that could lead to a merger of the two companies. They plan to set up a joint holding company that will become the parent company of both companies through a joint transfer of shares. Both Nissan and Honda will become wholly-owned subsidiaries of the joint holding company.
