New version of battery recycling regulations released to improve comprehensive utilization capabilities

The new version of the "Industry Standards for Comprehensive Utilization of Waste Power Batteries of New Energy Vehicles" was released on December 23, 2024, which adjusted and optimized the 2019 version. The new regulations require that the annual investment in research and development and process improvement by enterprises shall not be less than 3% of their income from the comprehensive utilization of waste power batteries. At the same time, enterprises are encouraged to apply for provincial and above independent research and development institutions, engineering laboratories, technology centers or high-tech enterprise qualifications.
